The theme of the festival is ‘leadership - the next generation.’ Like the previous editions, this year’s theme creates an excellent opportunity for the West to meet the East, through great film productions and exchange of expertise.

This in turn allows participants to share knowledge about cultural heritages of different communities at the international level while promoting intellectual dialogue and encouraging mutual respect.

The festival has already received over 360 films from 55 countries. Our intention is to screen 365 films from over 50 countries in ten days simultaneously during the festival in Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, Eldoret and Nakuru.

The 6th edition of The Kenya International Film Festival (KIFF) 2011 was held between October 21 and October 30 2011. The festival attracted over 560 films from 57 countries. The festival managed to screen 365 films living up to its stated objective of screening “a film a day for a calendar year”.

The theme of the festival was “Leadership - The Next Generation”. Every single film was selected based on the great effort and at times, the tremendous risk in producing the film and finally the quality.

The festival once again lived up to its role of bringing together stakeholders in the film industry such as government departments involved in film, the artists, the producer and the viewing public.

The audience who came from all walks of life when talked to said they mostly appreciated the fact that the films were of different genre and style, different cinema languages, different creative styles, artistic and their intellectual nature.
