Welcome to the Inaugural Kenya international film festival (KIFF) which takes place from October 22nd to November 1st 2008 at various venues in Nairobi, Kenya.
The festival is hosted by the Kenya International Film Festival Trust and seeks to create a local and regional audience by showcasing films that are not necessarily distributed in local cinemas or television. Special attention will be given to African films.
Films will include features, student films, animations, documentaries, and experimental films which will compete for awards in various artistic and technical categories. A jury will select the award winners.
KIFFT will invite directors, producers, distributors and other film professionals to talk about their work and the film industry in Kenya and in their respective countries in seminars, workshops or directly after the screening of their films.
Screenings will be in venues within the City Center and in community halls around Nairobi. This exciting festival will bring together film enthusiasts, amateur and professional filmmakers and Kenyan audiences, all of who will have a chance to interact and exchange ideas about filmmaking in Africa and beyond. The festival menu will, of course, include Kenya's own video entertainment scene.
